Philip Saint John Wakefield's personal background
| Phil Wakefield is a lifelong resident of the Puget Sound
region. Before becoming an attorney, Phil was a commercial
fisherman and a ship's carpenter, working to make enough to
spend a year exploring Europe and North Africa. |

 |
His love of travel, boating, and woodworking were applied
when he bought a 40 foot classic wooden yacht that was sinking
at the dock and – while going to law school – restored it to
the point that it was featured in the Port Townsend Wooden
Boat Festival. |
 |
In his spare time, Phil Wakefield enjoys traveling with his
family, fishing, restoring autos, motorcycle riding, drag racing
and boating. |
 |
He currently lives in the Bothell area with his wife and
two young sons. |

About the Down Rider Foundation
 |
Philip Wakefield has been an avid motorcyclist for over 38
years. During this time, he saw many fellow riders suffering
the effects of accidents that weren't their fault. |
| These responsible riders were hospitalized from
injuries, unable to work, yet the car drivers' insurance companies
dragged out settling their claims for years, resulting in catastrophic
effects on the riders' lives. |
| Phil Wakefield saw the need for a support network
for motorcycle riders, so he created the Down
Rider Foundation. This organization is made up of motorcyclists
and enthusiasts dedicated to helping injured motorcycle riders
through the short-term financial stress that often accompanies
an injury accident. |
The Down Rider Foundation provides prompt
short-term financial assistance to motorcycle riders who
have been injured while riding, through no fault of their
own, so that they can keep a roof over their heads, food
on the table, and have basic transportation to get to the
doctor until they can get back on their feet.

Rider website for more information. |
